We often we see these three verbs used interchangeably ... and they shouldn't be because there are nuances in their meanings that make one of them the "grate" choice every time!

IMMIGRATE *** EMIGRATESo let's look at this more closely.
Migrate
to GO from one country, region or place to another
(it's all about the going!)
Immigrate
to COME to a country of which one is not a native
(it's all about the coming)
Emigrate
to LEAVE a country or region and settle in another
(it's all about the leaving)
